Over in Dover

One Sunday afternoon, we headed east to see one of the Seacoast's only covered bridges, the Cocheco. Our directions said that it was located on the Cocheco River in Henry Law Park.
We looked left.

We looked right.  No bridge.

We are pretty sure this is where the bridge once stood.

We saw this plaque and thought it might say this is where the Cocheco Bridge once stood, instead it says, "Abraham Burtman Charity Trust."

Based on the ground we guessed that this is where the foot bridge started.

This is a perfect spot for a covered bridge :)

Dover, what did you do with your covered bridge?

We located the covered bridge on the map.
Natalie checked the internet to find out about the Cocheco.  It said that Dover was keeping the bridge behind the recycling center.  We drove to the recycling center.  There was no bridge in sight.  :(

I called the town office and spoke to a woman who told me they were working on cleaning up the area and the water at the River Walk.  She said that the bridge is hiding in storage until the renovation project is complete.  It didn't seem as though this woman was open to the possibility of showing two excited bridge enthusiasts the undercover covered bridge.  Maybe next year, Dover.
